7 Important Steps for the Success of Your Vision

A vision is a clear mental picture of your desired future. It is seeing from your present a pictorial representation of your preferred future. In other words, your life vision is your chosen destination, regarding productivity and fulfilment.

A vision can be God or self-initiated. It is possible that God reveals to you a specific vision for your future. But it is also not unscriptural for you to write down your own vision based on your desires, if you know God has not given you a direct vision for the future. The bible says “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass” (Psalm 37:4-5). God is in the business of satisfying the desires of His children. Remember, that human desires can also be planted by the Holy Spirit (Philippians 2:13).

Vision is a divine principle. God is a God of vision. He always deals with the future, because the present is already been taken care of. Before the world began, God had already seen its end. It is the nature of God to declare the end of a matter from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10). That is why He gave us His promises (His words), which basically signifies the future being revealed in the present.

The future is no man’s magician. It is simply a magnification of the image your mind is currently painting about your future. Therefore, if the image your mind is painting is not what you want in your future, simply discard it and re-paint your destiny. Your vision determines the significance of your future. People become impoverished, not because they have no opportunities or meaningful connections, but because they lack vision.

A potent vision never lacks right opportunities. You may have to wait for them, but they will surely come your way. Joseph had a dream. But it all went wrong for him and eventually ended up in Egypt as a slave. But at the right time his opportunities arrived. What you need first is not opportunities, but a genuine vision for your future; because a dedicated vision will always attract opportunities.

Your life will only move towards the image your mind continues to envisage. Since the mind requires a focus to function, it is therefore your duty to carefully map out a desired road map for it. A visionless mind is always an accident waiting to happen. No wonder the bible says “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18). A vision is the restraint of the mind against distractions for a worthy outcome. Having a vision keeps the mind from blindly leaping to its death through distractions.  If you do not decide the focus of your mind, somebody else will. It is your life; take responsibility for it. Decide to overcome your fears and begin to dream as if nothing was at stake. A bold, positive and dedicated vision always gets God’s attention. Your future is only as fascinating as your vision for it. Therefore think big and see clearly.

Vision is an expression of faith. Someone without faith can have a vision, but it is impossible for a man or woman of faith to be visionless. Living faith always sees, believes and hopes (Hebrews 11:1), and the clearer your vision is, the stronger your faith. Therefore, vision is the capability to vividly see through the eyes of faith what one cannot presently see with the physical eyes. It is planning responsibly and preparing for the manifestation of the things you have imagined and written down. Planning and preparing for what you are envisioning demonstrates strong confidence in God. Such an act of faith pleases God.

It is your duty to write down your life vision and make it very clear. When you obey the word of God by writing your vision down (Habakkuk 2:2-3), you place a demand by faith on the integrity of the word of God. If you fulfil your part, God is committed to doing His part.

Consider these questions: What do you see in your future? How will you describe the quality of your vision? How big is it? Do you have a passion to see it manifest? Below are the seven crucial steps for actualising your vision. These steps are only necessary once you’ve decided to set a goal and write down your lifetime vision.

7 important Steps for the Success of your Vision

1)      Build your lifetime vision around your passion. Let your passion (what you love doing) decide your vision. Every human was designed for a purpose. Your gifting, talents and affections reveal your assignment on the earth. Human design reveals his function.  You are a specific solution to a specific problem on the earth (Jeremiah 1:6-7). Discover what you were sent to do and use it as a basis for your vision.

2)      Dream as if you could not fail. Envisage as if money was never an issue. God-dreams will always see beyond what only man can accomplish. A vision that never requires God’s omnipotence will never attract His divine presence. In other words, your vision has to be big enough to unlock faith within you. For In this God is glorified (Hebrews 11:6). It is crucial for you to know that God will never prompt or lead you to a vision that will not require His participation.

3)      Screen your vision with the Word of God. The ultimate purpose of your vision must be to glorify God and expand its Kingdom here on earth. A vision built to glorify the flesh cannot attract God’s blessings. Divine participation is only available for a vision that is initiated to glorify God (2 Corinthians 10:5).

4)      Grow in diligence and passion towards your vision. Nothing significant will ever materialise in your future that does not dominate your daily routine. God must continue to feel your burning desires and persistence to see your vision come to fruition (Proverbs 22:29). Your diligence and the willingness to identify and connect to an effective and proven source of inspiration will be crucial in seeing your vision coming to pass. Passion sustains vision. When you lose passion, your vision is redundant.

5)      Allow the Holy Spirit to review and amend your vision. Although it is your responsibility to write down your lifetime vision based on your affections, giftedness and calling, it is important to surrender it to the Holy Spirit for any necessary amendments. The bible says “The mind of man plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps” (Psalm 16:9). God works out everything to conform to His divine purpose. Therefore, allow Him to shape your vision into His perfect will for your life.

6)      Focus on learning. Accomplishing your vision will require more than what you currently know. Learn passionately what matters to your goals. Listen to the Holy Spirit. God wants to teach you things that have never come across your mind. Become a lifetime learner. Pay attention to what challenges and adversity teach you as you journey toward realising your life vision.

7)      Expect a delightful future. Your faith is always revealed in the magnitude of your expectations. Expectation is the heartbeat of faith. If you have seen the future very clearly and have believed it, then begin to expect its manifestation (Proverbs 23:18). Concerning the things of God, expectation is the key that unlocks divine intervention.

Remain blessed,
