Designed for Relationships Part 2

Discussion: Designed for Relationships Part 2 (Blog, 13 / 3 / 12)

Icebreaker: What’s your name and how did you get to be here this evening?

We’ve discussed the importance of relationships in our lives: the value of friends and the help and comfort they provide; whether we should maintain all our relationships or let go of certain people; whether there was anyone in our life we needed to forgive.

Today we’re looking at our relationship with the Holy Spirit. Listen to some scriptures about the Holy Spirit.

Eph 1:17          I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.

Is 11:2             The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord—

Job 33:4          The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

Acts 10: 38      how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.

  • What words stand out to you / surprised you in terms of describing what the Spirit is?

This is what Jesus said of the Holy Spirit:

Act 1: 8            But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Luke 24:9        I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”

  • How could this be relevant for our lives today?
  • Do you feel unsure of who the Holy Spirit is?
  • Are you clear about what He makes available to us?
  • Have you had a special experience with the Holy Spirit that could encourage other people?
