Holiness, not Self-Righteousness

The pursuit of holiness is a different seed than self-righteousness.  Holiness is human reactions to the love of God poured out in their heart by the Holy Spirit. It is proof of genuine love towards God. Holiness is the gift of honour to Divine presence who resides within us. Holiness is simply obedience to Divine instructions.

On the other hand, self-righteousness is the unholy response to the cravings of the flesh. It is a prideful inclination of man to undermine the grace of God and exalt the arm of flesh. Remember, the bible says that our own righteousness is as filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6).

Holiness is a Divine trait. It is the work of the Holy Spirit in you with your consent.  It is the willingness to honour Divine expectations. Holiness trusts in the grace of God, but self-righteousness relies on the strength of man. Holiness draws you close to God, while self-righteousness draws you away from Him. Holiness is a divine expectation, self-righteousness is not.

Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and a house of prayer. Therefore pursue Holiness. It is the evidence of your spiritual maturity and love for God.

“Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” 2 Timothy 2:19
