How To Turn Your Weaknesses to Greatness (Part Two): 7 Keys to Turning your Weakness to Greatness

Every weakness is an opportunity for divine strengthening. The existence of a weakness in your life is proof that you need God. God wants to take your weakness and turn it to greatness. He wants to take the areas of your life that people have condemned to failure and turn it around for success. If you will only recognise it and lay it before the altar, God will take the humility and faith you have shown toward Him and deposit His divine strength into your life.

Jesus came for this purpose – to set us free from every weakness (Hebrews 4:5; Isaiah 53:4). His power is made perfect in our weaknesses (2 Corinthians 12:9). Jesus specialises in destroying human weaknesses. Remember, the greatest weakness of man was our incapability to fulfil the Law. But Jesus left His heavenly throne, took up human flesh and fulfil the law for us (Romans 8:3).. He broke the power of death (1 Corinthians 15:55-56), and gave us the powerful gift in the Person of the Holy Spirit for our empowerment (Acts 1:8; Luke 24:49).

Jesus has already made provision for your transformation. Whether it is addiction, pornography, fornication, adultery, anger, laziness, lack of compassion, lack of forgiveness, malice, gossip, selfishness, stealing, or lying, whatever it is, the power of God is in abundance to launch you from the place of weakness into the place of greatness.

History is full of men and women who rode victoriously into greatness, regardless of their weaknesses. Albert Einstein was tagged a “slow talker” as a child, but grew to become one of the greatest geniuses the world has ever known. Likewise the bible is full with the stories of people who rose above their perceived weaknesses to fulfil their divine assignment on the earth. Moses had speech impediment. David had a problem with beautiful women. Jeremiah’s weakness was his youthfulness. Peter was timid. Paul had a thorn in his flesh.

In spite of their weaknesses, the above patriarchs went on to achieve divine purposes in their generation. God’s intention is that you fulfil your assignment on the earth. If you can trust Him, you can rise above your weakness.  Your weaknesses are simple evidences that your greatness will require God’s involvement. Stay strong. Be confident. Your victory has been decided.

Below are 7 steps that will help you in turning your weakness to greatness.

7 Keys to Turning your Weakness to Greatness

1. Identify it. Recognition is the first step towards recovery. Whatever weakness remains unidentified cannot be confronted. And a weakness that remains unchallenged will eventually win. Interrogate your life. Ask quality questions. Pay attention to your reactions. Listen to sound evaluations of trusted friends with regards to your weaknesses. Analysis your past failures, disappointments or loss of favour until you unravel any weakness that might have instigated them (Psalm 139:23; Psalm 26:2).

2. Accept it. Accepting that you have a weakness is never a sign of softness; rather it is the proof of willingness, internal strength and passion for greatness. Accepting that you have a weakness reveals humility. It is proof that you have conquered your pride. It also shows a healthy vulnerability which attracts quality people into your life. Humility is magnetic. Openness is the seed for intimacy. One of the qualities uncommon achievers have in common is that they are secure enough, not only to accept their weaknesses, but also to learn from those who have overcome the same weakness (1 Peter 5:6).

3. Surrender it to Jesus. Although some weaknesses are not necessarily sinful, most weaknesses are capable of leading us into sin. Some weaknesses are simply weights that hinder us from running effectively the race set before you (Hebrews 12:1). Until you cast the burden and weight of your weaknesses to the Lord, you will not be able to sustain the integrity and focus crucial to your fulfilment (Psalm 55:22). No wonder Jesus says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

4.Confront it. Whatever you continue to tolerate, you cannot change. Having surrendered your weaknesses to Jesus, you must set in place practical and realistic actions towards change (James 2:14). For example, if an environment or a relationship is feeding a certain weakness in you, you can schedule a dialogue to make your new resolution clear to all the people involved and request appropriate actions that will help build you up. But if they trivialise your request, where possible, disconnect (1 Corinthians 15:33).

Another practical approach to overcoming a weakness is to seek accountability. Confide in one or two trusted friends to keep you accountable (Proverbs 11:14). Lastly, pursue the counsel of those who have already overcome the same weakness (Proverbs 2018; Proverbs 24:6).

5. Depend on the Holy Spirit for strength. Without the help of the Holy Spirit, your best effort is futile. He is our helper. He is God here with us. He is the Spirit of strength and liberty. He is the One who transforms our weaknesses (Romans 8:26).

6. Wash your mind daily with the Word of God. Your mind is the battle ground. It is where victory or defeat is decided. If the word of God floods your mind daily, the strength to overcome your weakness will be readily available. The word of God contains the strength of God, and will destroy every seed of weakness in your life (Hebrews 4:12; Isaiah 40:29-31; Philippians 4:19).

7. Show kindness towards the weaknesses of others. You are a collection of seeds. When you sow kindness into others, in the area of their weaknesses, you will reap kindness. The whole universe is run by the Law of Seedtime and Harvest. Your reactions to the weakness of another will determine God’s reaction towards you regarding your weakness. If you focus to help people achieve their dreams regardless of their weaknesses, God will ensure that your destiny of greatness is also fulfilled (Genesis 8:22; Galatians 6:9-10).

Become today the bridge that links others to their destiny. Then watch how God will flood into your path the right people, environment and resources that will engineer your transformation from weakness to greatness.

Stay blessed,

Wale
