The Law of Appreciation: How It Can Help You To Accelerate

Thankfulness is a divine expectation. God expects you to thank Him, irrespective of your situation, because of His continuous and inexplicable works in your life (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Thankfulness is a portrait of your thoughtfulness. If you can think, you can thank. God has done so much for you than your mental faculties can ever comprehend. His grace and mercies have kept you among the living (La 3:20). Ferocious battles have been fought and won on your behalf by angels on assignment without your awareness (Psalm 91:7). Everything you possess came from Him (1 Corinthians 4:7) – your life, gifts, talents, energy, etc. Therefore you cannot over-thank God.

Thanksgiving is an explanation of character. It is proof that you have not taking the kindness, faithfulness and mercies of God for granted. What you really are is revealed by your level of gratitude towards your creator. If I know the level of your thankfulness, I can determine the depth of your devotion towards God. Thankfulness reveals your level of love, trust and hope.

A lifestyle of gratitude can only be perpetuated by the Persuaded. The Persuaded are those who have been totally convinced of the sovereignty, faithfulness and the Mightiness of the Most High God, regardless of the circumstances they are going through. They are simply totally devoted to praising. Adversity never influences their persuasion to walk in thanksgiving.  The bible says that Abraham did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform (Romans 4:20-21). When you walk in thanksgiving, you document your faith in God. Faith is the access into the miraculous.

Gratitude is a seed for new (Lam 3:22-23). When you thank God for what He has done in your life, He receives your sacrifice of praise and births new blessings and possibilities. Thanksgiving is the authorisation for more. Whatever you are thankful for in your life will multiply. When Jesus was about to feed the five thousand, the bible says He gave thanks over the little boy’s packed launch of five loaves of bread and two fish. Then the little meal received a Divine touch for multiplication. Thanksgiving is a divine conversation for the open heaven. If you can appreciate God, you can accelerate. Your increase is concealed in your willingness to be addicted to praising God, regardless of life’s challenges.

Thanksgiving is a powerful weapon of warfare (Psalm 149:6-8). When the children of Israel needed a miracle at Jericho, God never asked them to fast and pray (although these exercises have their powerful places in the things of the Spirit); rather He instructed them to thank Him by singing round the walls of Jericho for seven days and seven times on Sunday. You know the end of the story- the walls fell down flat. The walls of Jericho could not withstand the power of praise. Every wall of Jericho in your life is simply waiting to be levelled at the sound of your high praise. When you thank God, you bring the glory of God into your environment. And His presence destroys anything contrary to His divine purpose in your life.

Thanksgiving is a choice, enabled by the Spirit of the living God. Ask Him to empower you to praise even in difficulties. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, begin to resist every satanic influence to be unthankful. The goal of the devil is to make you focus on what is not going well for you, at the expense of all that God has done for you.

Command the spirit of heaviness to depart from your life. Focus on bringing the presence of God into your domain. When you praise, praise with great expectation. Expect a favourable divine reaction. Your deliverance is in your mouth (Proverbs 12:6). Start now to praise your way out of trouble, and into the abundant life God intends for you.

“May the peoples praise you, O God; may all the peoples praise you. Then the land will yield its harvest, and God, our God, will bless us.” Psalm 67:5-6
