The Law Of Liberty

This is the topic of the sermon series I began sharing with our church family last week from the book of James 1:25. “But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.” Note: The law of liberty is the Word of God, and the Word of God is Jesus Christ.

This scripture is packed with life changing truths and revelations. Let me share briefly with you one of the 7 Truths I discovered in James 1:25

The bible says “But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty…”

Focus decides destiny.Your focus is the world you have chosen for yourself. Your focus is your chosen future. If you make the things of the flesh your focus, you will create a future of bondage.

“For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.  For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” (Romans 8:5-6) But If Jesus is your focus, salvation and peace becomes your future. This is why we are instructed to look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. (Hebrews 12:2)

Your focus decides the failure or success of your enemies. Your focus decides your stress or your peace. Your focus decides what multiplies or diminishes in your life. If I know what your focus is, I can predict your future. Samson focused on a sinful relationship with Delilah and created for himself a tragic future. But Joseph focused on the Lord and His manifested goodness, and was lifted from the prison to the palace.

What is your dominant focus in life?  Whose voice matters in your life?  What thought has the pre-eminence on your mind? You must continue to evaluate the focus of your life, because something you are focusing on today is creating for you a future of pain or pleasure.

The reason men fail is broken focus. Realign your focus today and make the perfect law of liberty your focus and obsession, and the peace of the God which passes knowledge shall guard your heart and mind through Christ Jesus.

“You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.” (Isaiah 26:3)
