The Purpose and The Destination

Eternal life is not just our destination, but also our PURPOSE on the earth.  Eternal life is the LIFE of Christ in you. It is  also God’s PURPOSE to be fulfilled on the earth (John 17:2). Eternal life is the reign of God and His divine influence in the heart of man; impacting him with power through the knowledge of His Will (John 17:3), for the PURPOSE of passing it on into the hearts of others through Spirit-led evangelism.

Hence, as born-again believers, we already possess eternal life because we have come through the blood of Christ and have ben regenerated into new creations (2 Corinthians 5:17). The Holy Spirit of Wisdom, knowledge and understanding now resides within us. But this Life of God in us is a saving GRACE which must be imparted tom others.

God’s PURPOSE, therefore, is that we become his true ambassadors on the earth, diffusing eternal life (The Kingdom of God) into the hearts of others, while maintaining total authority and domination over the forces of darkness (Ephesians 3:10-11). This was the original PURPOSE for our creation – to dominate and to establish eternal life on the earth, just as it is in heaven (Genesis 1:27-28).

Christ later expanded on this in His parable of the Ten Minas (Luke 19:13) when He said “Occupy till I return,” meaning, be productive with what you have been given to fulfil my eternal purpose on earth. We are not called to be idle and purposeless, waiting for the Lord to come and take us to eternal life, but to occupy and bring eternal life to others. This is the PURPOSE; otherwise our presence on the earth would not have been necessary. God keeps us here with His Spirit to help us impact the world for the Lord.

Everything given to us by the Lord is a divine tool for the kingdom expansion (1 Peter 4:10; Ephesians 4:7). Our talents, gifting, opportunities, and resources are all expected to be used to expand the kingdom of God. But for this to happen, we must become protégés of the Holy Spirit and prioritise growing in grace and the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18).

We’ve been instructed by God to continue to learn, teach, motivate, inspire and challenge each other, in order to defeat the devil’s schemes of complacency, ignorance, poor self-esteem, lack of purpose, etc. Let us focus to maximise our divine deposits for the Kingdom of God expansion here on earth. The destination is assured but the PURPOSE is at stake. Therefore God needs you and me to continue to dispense eternal life into our environment, through whatever means currently possible, as we wait for the Hope of eternal glory.

Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”  Matthew 6:10
